This is a project about the first flight of astronaut Yuri Gagarin on «Vostok-1» spacecraft and his impressions of Earth appearance from space.
Five thematic shorts were released using 3D graphics that allowed to reproduce exactly a flight path of «Vostok-1» spaceship and to feel realistically: clouds, atmospheric aurora, lightning flashes, hurricanes, volcanoes and Borealis. Carefully simulated reality made it possible to perceive the Earth through the eyes of the astronaut, feel speed of the planet and observe the solar terminator.

Concept of the project contributes to formation of a sense of pride in the results achieved by native cosmonauts, inspires a young generation to love their planet and explore an outerspace.

The films are created with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, and designed for a broad general audience. They can be watched in cinemas and on media platforms adapted to format of planetariums and delivered to Ministry of Education of Novosibirsk region to be used in regional schools for educational purposes.
The shorts are shown in the following cities: Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Vyborg, Kaliningrad, Lytkarino, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Vladimir, Orenburg, Barnaul, Novokuznetsk.

Soflab-NSK is involved in a project to create interactive installationsfor the Exhibition Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

To date, SoftLabNSK have created:
• exposition "Lake Baikal";
• guide to the exhibition "Science of Siberia";
• exposition "Novosibirsk Scientific Center";
• exposition "Siberian Ring Photon Source (SKIF)".

Exhibition stands comprise video walls and multisensor interactive tables.The intuitive interface of the screens allows you to view the exhibitions both independently and with the help of a guide. When exploring the exhibits information can be transferred from touch screens to a video wall.

These immersive interfaces attract new visitors to the Exhibition Centre.

A virtual exposition for the multi-user interactive stand, reconstructing paleolytic human daily activities, based on research made by Novosibirsk State University archeology department.

The exposition is a 3D virtual space, created on motives of the Denisovan cave, combining the past and the present. With the aid of virtual reconstruction and 3-dimensional animation, visitors are simultaneously acquainted with the activities of an ancient human as well as with the methods of archaeologists, unique finds and artifacts.

A collaboration with Novosibirsk State University resulted in two installations for its Museum of Archaeology: The Denisovian and Art Beyond Time. We have used interactive solutions such as:
• 3D animation and graphics;
• digital reconstruction;
• holographic projection;
• content for touch screens;
• interactive games;
• video content for multimedia and video walls.

The Denisovian exhibition is housed over four multisensory tables and comprises 3d reconstruction of Palaeolithic man’s activity as well as modern-day archaeological methods. Our content makes the information easily accessible, with 3D graphics and animation playing to the strength of the exhibition. The museum guide is able to relay the information to other multimedia devices, thus allowing the visiting audience to view the artefacts in detail.

The exhibition Art Beyond Time, is an educational interactive display of ancient man’s rock art. There are two parts: petroglyphs and palm prints.
The petroglyphs part explains the rock art techniques, while the palm prints section allows the visitors to simulate the process of printing their own hand prints on the virtual rockface.
The effect of the visitors’ presence ‘inside the cave’ is intensified through the use of software which recognises the individual’s exact location and projects the beam of their ‘torch’ onto the rockface of the cave’s interior.

  • Simulations

This is a simulator to train hump yard operators, who put together cargo trains.
The visualization system has a very exact virtual model of a train sorting hump, which is rendered on a number of projectors or monitors. Thus a panoramic view is formed, the same as the operator has in reality. All the conditions, different time of day, season, fog and precipitation can be simulated.
A replica of a real control board allows to control virtual semaphores, switches and retarders.
Over the years, more than 15 simulators of this kind, each having exact model of a different respective sorting hump were installed in their respective sites. This includes Ekateringurg, Novosibirsk, St.Petersberg, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk and Yaroslavl.

We present COLIBRI flight simulator-trainer.
It is one of the least costly and easy to use simulators, intended for primary pilots training.
It has two versions - Professional and Standard.

The trainer provides a number of general aviation vehicles - planes and helicopters, including R-22, EC-130, Mi-8 and others.
The realistic environment is implemented as aerial imagery overlays plus some 3D buildings. We composed lessons for certain training tasks, in accordance to the methodology of Sergei Piskunov, a pilot and a flight school head, and we also implemented an automated skill assesment system. Emergency situations (engine and other systems failures) can be worked out on the trainer without any limitations. The software enables instantly modifying the flight conditions, weather, geographic location, and stopping the lesson for critical analysis and restaring.
The trainer is cost-efficient, it is 6-8 cheaper (per hour) than a real helicopter and it does not require medical certification.

The COLIBRI Professional consists of:

  • a helicopter cabin (Afalina, Heliwhale, Russoa) with flight controls - cyclic, collective and the pedals
  • dashoard (a sensor sreeen)
  • an instructr sead with duplicated controls
  • a computer image generator with three 60" TV panels providing 120 degrees of FOV

The required space is 3x5 meters, can be installed by two persons in 1 day.

The COLIBRI Standard consists of:

  • a pilot's seat with flight controls - cyclic, collective and the pedals
  • a computer image generator with four 40" TV panels providing 160 degrees of FOV

The required space is 2x2 meters, can be installed by two persons in 1 day.
